Dare to Fly: Enabling Grounds for Young Women to Lead

At the Foundation for Rebuilding Childhood (FRC), we believe in the power of grassroots organisations to create lasting change. This belief came alive most vividly through our partnership with Y-Ultimate, whose Dare to Fly camp gave young girls the ground to claim their voices, their confidence, and their space as leaders.

We are proud to support Dare to Fly, Y-Ultimate’s flagship girls’ leadership initiative, a one-year, sport-based program reaching 150 young women from underserved communities in Delhi NCR. Built on the Practice, Play, Coach model, the program uses Ultimate Frisbee as a powerful tool for social-emotional learning and peer-led growth. On the field, girls are not only learning the rules of the game, but also what it means to stand tall, speak up, and support one another.

Through Dare to Fly, Y-Ultimate is working to:

  • Build sisterhood and solidarity
  • Foster leadership, communication, and resilience
  • Encourage respectful competition and lifelong skills
  • Inspire future generations of female athletes and leaders

It is truly inspiring to see these young women in action: coaching peers, making bold plays, cheering each other on, and leading with confidence.

In the recent camp held, the field became more than just a game space; it became a canvas where they are redefining what leadership looks like in their communities.

Our support for Y-Ultimate’s Dare to Fly reflects FRC’s broader philosophy of Trust-Based Philanthropy (TBP). We believe that systemic change is grounded in honest communication, shared learning, and shifting power to grassroots organisations. Progress often requires patience and the courage to embrace both successes and failures as learning steps and it is this mindset that allows initiatives like Dare to Fly to take root and thrive.

At FRC, we are committed to supporting community-based organisations that enable children and young people to realise their full potential and sustain change. By partnering with Y-Ultimate, we are helping to create safe, structured grounds where girls from marginalised backgrounds can grow, lead, and inspire.

As we witnessed these young athletes run, laugh, and lead on the field, we were reminded of the possibilities that emerged when funders and grassroots organisations work hand in hand. Together, we are not only supporting a sport, we are giving girls the wings to fly and the foundation to take off from.
